Elders

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:18-19
"And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with all."  1 Thessalonians 5:14

The Elders are responsible for assisting the Pastor in the spiritual care of the congregation and for ensuring that the preaching, teaching and care of God's people is done in accord with God's Word.  They meet on the first Thursday of every month to study God's Word, lift up God's people in prayer and discuss how we can best make disciples of Jesus.

While the Elders work with the whole congregation in accomplishing our vision and Strategic Focus Objectives their primary focus in on the first SFO - Growing as Disciples of Jesus Christ.

God's Word identifies several characteristics of the disciples or followers of Jesus.  As a people committed to following Jesus Christ we seek to encourage these same characteristics in our members.

Prayer - followers of Jesus pray all the time! (Acts 2:23, 1 Thess. 5:17, Phil. 4:4-6)

Fellowship - Followers of Jesus participate in and cherish the fellowship of brothers and sisters in Christ. (Acts 2:23, Matt. 12:46-50, 1 John 1:17)

Bible Study - Followers of Jesus are regular students of God's Word.  (Acts 2:23, Col. 3:16, Luke 11:28, 2 Tim. 3:14-17)

Worship - Followers of Jesus need to be in God's house often.  (Acts 2:23, Psalm 84:10, John 4:23-24, Hebrews 10:25)

Share Jesus - Followers of Jesus have a passion for sharing the gifts they have received with their neighbors!  (Acts 2:47, Matt. 28:18-19, Acts 1:7-8)

Each member of our family is assigned an Elder who will regularly touch base with them to see how we can help them continue growing as a disciple of Christ.  We encourage you to contact your Elder if you have any concerns.
