Paul's first letter to the Corinthians is all about God's gift of fellowship. The fellowship that we have in Jesus Christ should conquer everything else. There should be nothing that divides us. And yet the Church in Corinth was very divided. Paul mourns the fact that some follow one teacher and other follow another. (1:12). But their divisions don't stop there. They are divided over social ministry (7:25), traditions (8:1), worship practices (11:1), the Lord's Supper (11:17) and spiritual gifts (12:1). It sounds very much like too many churches today!
"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:9
